Turf and Track Systems

ATHLETIC & RECREATION PRODUCTS, INC. (ARP)
is a nationwide company focused on providing premium quality synthetic surfaces for athletic and recreational use. ARP markets and installs synthetic turf athletic fields, and running track systems. The complete product line is available throughout the United States from ARP regional offices and through a network of regional contractors and representatives from the family of Shane Group Companies.

ARP is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Shane Group. Because of this, ARP benefits from the financial strength of the Shane Group network. In addition to the Shane Group companies, ARP benefits from our network of independently owned regional contractors and distributors who have built reputations for quality products and unsurpassed service throughout the markets they serve.

OUR MISSION - To Add Value and Quality of Life to the Communities we Serve for Now and into the Future.

ARP Turf SYSTEMS - Athletic and Recreation Products, Inc. offers in-filled synthetic turf systems combining the appearance of natural grass with the all-weather playability, low maintenance and durability of synthetic turf. This advanced vertical-to-horizontal drainage technology uses a dynamic drainage and shock attenuation blanket that eliminates standing water. ARP Turf systems are manufactured to the highest industry standards and latest advances in synthetic turf technologies.

ARP Turf COMPONENTS -

  • Eliminates Fly-Out - Maximized grass and minimized infill separate the athlete from the infill and stabilizes footing. Rubber infill is under warranty for 8 years.
  • Excellent Drainage - Stone base circumvented as a conductive median for water. Evacuation rates can be pre-determined.
  • Climatic Dimensional Stability - A tertiary backing is added to the primary and secondary backings, creating an extremely stable product.
  • No Fibrillation or Premature Wear - Pre-configured yarn design will not fibrillate at all. At least seven times the wear-resistance of any fibrillation pattern.
  • G-Max Never Exceeds 150 (8-yr. warranty) - The safest, player-friendly sport surface ever developed. Natural "firm" foot feel.
  • Lower Surface Temperatures - Maximum possible heat reduction. There is no exposed infill, therefore, no solar energy absorption.

SAFEGRASS FOR PLAYGROUNDS - Athletic and Recreation Products, Inc. has developed a state-of-the-art safety surface utilizing SafeGrass, the premier synthetic turf system available for playgrounds. The combination ARP's experience, financial strength, quality products and network of regional representatives make ARP and SafeGrass the best choice for all-weather playground safety surfacing in the market today.

SafeGrass for playgrounds is a premier safety surfacing system that provides grass-like performance with long life, and low maintenance. SafeGrass is designed specifically for use under play equipment and meets all ASTM 1292-04 safety surfacing guidelines.

SafeGrass is a comprehensive two layer application utilizing existing ground cover. A sub-base of concrete, crushed stone or asphalt is not required. The lower layer is a dynamic drainage and shock attenuation blanket that distributes water to the perimeters. The top layer, or "wearing layer", is a 69 oz. polyethylene, highly durable, grass-like synthetic turf surface with urethane backing. Each project is priced individually on a per square foot basis by ARP or a member of our national network of representatives.

Every SafeGrass safety surface system includes quality components, quality installation, and a comprehensive five year warranty... all backed by Athletic and Recreation Products, Inc.

ARP Trac RUNNING SYSTEM - ARP Trac is the first synthetic running track surface engineered to allow "tuning" of the surface response-time in order to customize surface performance to its primary use.

No surface is ideal for all types of use. Sprinters perform better on a fast-response (harder) surface. Longer event runners maximize performance with a slower-response (softer) surface. Practice and training require a surface with higher shock attenuation to reduce wear and fatigue on athlete's joints and muscles. The user should determine the best configuration for his intended primary use and be able to "tune" the track surface, accordingly.

The ARP Trac surface incorporates a minimal amount of rubber in-fill particulate to accomplish this tuning. Slight differences in the amount and depth of the fine polymeric particulate can produce recognizable differences in response time, resilience and shock attenuation.

In addition, the ARP Trac surface maximizes traction and minimizes loss of energy that may occur through "slip", by taking advantage of the natural filament "lean". The surface is designed so that the orientation of the fiber lean virtually eliminates energy loss due to incremental loss of traction. Furthermore this designed fiber orientation maximizes the angle of surface response forces with the athlete's shoe to provide the greatest possible energy return to the runner. In simpler term, the runner is not solely dependant on frictional forces at the surface contact point for forward propulsion. He virtually can "dig-in" and take advantage of reaction forces acting more perpendicular with the shoe surface to propel himself forward.

ARP Trac is, also, a truly all-weather surface system, which, when mated with the ToughDrain drainage blanket, will evacuate rainwater from the surface so that performance is not affected, up to rainfall rates of 2" per hour.
The ARP Trac surface is also environmentally-friendly, as it contains no urethanes or heavy metals, thus insuring the product is safe for users and the environment and is recyclable.
